The National Collection of Heads and Horns has received from Col. Theodore Roosevelt as a gift the mounted head of a white rhino. The specimen was shot by the donor in the Lado District, west bank of the Nile, on 28 January 1910 and was mounted by James L. Clark of New York.

I can state that Rhinoceros simus also exists in the Uelle, that is the north of Belgian Congo.
Mus. Tervuren has an anterior horn, 67.5 cm, part of the ethnographical collections of Mr. Fraipont, recently acquired by the museum, from the district of Uelle, Congo.

Rhinos are found by the Nile and in certain parts of the Eastern province, scarce. Rhinos are not plentiful. They are only to be found to the east of the Nile, the river apparently being an impossible barrier between them and Uganda proper.

In Zululand in 1903, Mr. Saunders saw two specimens killed by local people near their village. A photo taken of one of these animals is the only photo known of the species, together with that made in 1870 by Mr. H?ritte en published in 1908 by Lydekker.
