In 1921, I heard of the plan of C.F.M. Swynnerton, then Game Warden of Tanganyika, to join the Mohoro and the Mahenge Reserves with a narrow 10-mile strip along the west of the Rufiji River, the resulting reserve to be called the Selous Reserve.
