From April to July 1970, Dr Fred Kurt of the University of Zurich surveyed wild areas in the north of Sumatra. It is very difficult to estimate the numbers of rhinos. Kurt estimates that there are 60-100 of these animals in total, of which 28 live in Gunung Leuser. |
