Ehlers 1895, vol.1:338 = 1894, vol. 1, p.293-295 1891, Nepal. Mentions tiger hunt by the Nepal Maharajah in Chitwan area. Nothing about rhino, but he did not participate in the hunt
Ehlers 1895, vol.1:369 = 1894, vol. 1, p.357 1891. Durbanga. In the gardens there is a zoological garden. Sees 8 tigers, which do not like the climate. No rhino mentioned.
Ehlers 1895, vol.1:384 = 1894, vol. 1, p.372 1891. Calcutta Zoological Garden. Good collection of indian fauna. Good specimens of lion, tiger, leopard, bear. It is noteworthy that the zoo receives annually an income of around 800 Mk from the sale of urine of the rhinoceros which is used in indian pharmacy.

Then participates in tiger hunt, describes the luxury of the camp, and particpitaes in tiger hunt from elephants. He leaves early but during his time on Sankos Rover they shoot 5 tiger, a leopard, several buffalo and deer (p.411)

Ehlers 1895, vol.2:84 = 1894, vol.2 p.84 Manipur. The forests of Manipur have much wildlife: elephants, rhinoceroses [Rhinocerosse] are as common as tiger, leopard, bear, buffalo and wild pigs. Deer, wild goat and monkeys are found in the lower hills
