1891. Durbanga. In the gardens there is a zoological garden. Sees 8 tigers, which do not like the climate. No rhino mentioned.

1891. Calcutta Zoological Garden. Good collection of indian fauna. Good specimens of lion, tiger, leopard, bear. It is noteworthy that the zoo receives annually an income of around 800 Mk from the sale of urine of the rhinoceros which is used in indian pharmacy.

1891. Cooch Behar. Visits palace where the library is noteworthy. Then participates in tiger hunt, describes the luxury of the camp, and particpitaes in tiger hunt from elephants. He leaves early but during his time on Sankos Rover they shoot 5 tiger, a leopard, several buffalo and deer (p.411)
