p. 111 Not far from tomb of Ghazi ud Deen Hyder Shah, first king of Oudh, on left bank of Goomty. Is the menagerie, “a large square court, surrounded by piazzas” 13 tigers, monkeys, rabbits, fighting antelopes, and rams, and quails
Menagerie also called Janwa-Chana [=Janwar Khanah] in German edn, ein von Hallen umschlossener grosser viereckiger Hof
p. 112 I am sorry to say, the value of this menagerie has been very much decreased by the removal of several animals – six Rhinoceroses and several other remarkable animals having been taken to adorn various sepulchral monuments.
