Research on "Study of Existence and Distribution of The Sumatran Rhino (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis)" has been performed in Samarkilang, the Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) from June to December 2014. This study aims to determine the presence and distribution of the sumatran rhino in Samarkilang, the Leuser Ecosystem. The study was conducted in the area which is divided into six grids measuring 4 kmĀ² using a modified method of Capture Mark Recapture (CMR) by using camera trap and identification of finding traces of footprints. The parameters measured were the number of individuals, age groups (cohorts) and approximate whereabouts of the sumatran rhino. Data were analyzed descriptively shown in the form of figures and tables. The results showed that in Samarkilang, the Leuser Ecosystem, there are two locations inhabited by sumatran rhino, which is in the mountains of Karang Putih and Jamur Kite. Sign of the sumatran rhino is found in the form of a trail of footprints, attrition horn and former puddles left. Based on the results estimated sumatran rhino is one individual who found an adult sumatran rhinoceros. Data not found a camera trap footage of the sumatran rhino's presence at the sites.
