Heard that Premnarain Singh, a young neighbouring Zemindar, had gone in pursuit of it with elphant and guns. – Found the rhino killed, it had got stuck in quicksand. (556) Body measured 11 ft 3 inches from the snout to the tail, stood 6 ft 9 in. Horn was 6 ½ inches long. Girth a little over 10 ft.
Nepaul.
(557) Nepaul terai. They are more numerous, but Jung Bahadur, the late ruler of Neoaul, would allow no one to shoot them but himself. (He once shot at a rhinoceros in Nepaul because he forgot this rule.)
