Notes on Alberto Malatesta.
For over a twenty years' period, Alberto Malatesta (1915-2007) was dealing with the Quaternary basins of the Italian Peninsula acting on behalf of the Servizio Geologico Italiano (at present, ISPRA). Contemporaneously, he was a Visiting Professor of Palaeontology as well as of Vertebrate Palaeontology at the Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra of the “Sapienza” Università di Roma.
As a promotor of several excavation works concerning Pleistocene mammals in Sicily, Sardinia, and Crete, he published over than hundred papers containing the results of his scientific activity in those areas. Particularly, he devoted himself to the study of endemic fauna of Mediterranean islands.
