In the collection of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Zoologichesky Institut Rossiiskoy Akademii Nauk) in St-Petersburg is also stored the famous S. kirchbergensis skull (ZIN 10718) from the "Irkutsk region", the sole skull ascribed to this taxon found in Russia, described both by Chersky (1874) and by Brandt (1877) (vide autem in Billia, 2006, 2008, 2010).
