Original text on this topic:
A study was conducted to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal
helminths of cattle in six rurals that arround the Way Kambas National Park on July 2006. The aim of this research is to know that parasites infection include their types of egg, prevalence, and worms burden in cattle whith Sumatran Rhinos. A total of 30 faecal samples that was exemined in the study using standard coprologic procedure by McMaster and sedimantation technique. Result of the study showed that 21 (70%) of the exemined catles were infected by seven types gastrointestinal helminth. The gastrointestinal helminths investigated according to
the egg types recovered include Paramphistomum (23,33 %), strongylid (23,33 %), capillarid (20 %), Fasciola (13,33 %), Toxocara (13,33 %), Strongyloides (3,33 %) and Moniezia (3,33 %). The highest average of worms burden to the lowest based on the faecal egg count were 64,40±291,10 EPG (Capillaria), 57,80±187,50 EPG (Toxocara), 31,10±73,70 EPG (strongylid), 6,67±36,51 EPG (Strongyloides), 4,44±23,34 EPG (Moniezia), 1,40±3,85 EPG (Paramphistomum),
0,30± 0,98 EPG (Fasciola). According to those results in the results, this suggests that the transmision of gastrointestinal helminths from cattle to Sumatran Rhinos is hypothesized.
