The Bangkok Times for 11 November 1897 mentions a rhino being shot by Mr. C. Ephraums - no species indicated - few details: animal was seen at a sulphur spring within 6 miles of Ipoh, Perak, it was an old male, 6 feet high at the shoulder and about 8 feet in length; his horn measured 13 inches and weighed 3 lbs.
