Then in 1959 two animals, both females, were brought from Sumatra to Europe. On 2 July 1959 'Bettina' arrived in Basel, and five months later 'Subur' came to Copenhagen. As Bettina, who has been sick from the start, died after two years in September 1961, Suber is now the only example of her species outside her homeland.
