Rather smaller than the typical race, with dorsal outline of skull less concave. General colour of body lighter ; tips of ears not so heavily fringed. Horns about the same; the record horn measures 29 ? inches in length. Typical locality, Somaliland; range extends westward as far as the Tana River and valley of the Northern Guaso Nyiro. To the north of the Northern Guaso Nyiro this Rhinoceros inhabits the area to the east of Lake Rudolf; it is also found in certain parts of Southern Abyssinia.
