Adult female. Modal number of chromosomes was 84. The diploid number of 84 is the highest yet recorded in a mammal.
5 distinct groups: a pair of large chromosomes with nearly median centromeres; three pairs of smaller chromosomes gain with nearly median centromeres; a group of 9 pairs of long chromosomes with submdian centromeres; and 58 acrocentrics which fill in 2 groups, one of 26 longer chromosomes and 32 others. No X-chromosome found.
One chromosome, a small acrocentric, was seen to carry satellites on its long arms.
