The presence of rhinos in a certain area is assessed according the number of used wallows called 'koebangan badak' by the locals. Every wallow is surrounded by a certain area where the rhino roams and which it does not leave. Sometimes one animal, or a pair, uses several 'koebangans', also called 'soeban', at the same time.
