In 1869, near Lahaing, between the Thungyen and Menam rivers. As we were crossing a small plain towards evening, three rhinoceroses came in sight.
On the River Menam, a solitary rhinoceros was seen. Very shortly afterwards, a small herd of five rhinoceroses came right across our path and received our fire. One was shot.
