Original text on this topic:
The rhinoceros arrived on 10 April 1896. It had been transported to Frankfurt by rail in a box measuring 2.4 x 2 m. The box is the property of Breslau Zoo and was built for the transport of large and difficult animals. The weight of the box is about 40 Centner. The rhino walked easily into the box and it was rolled onto a truck. The transport took 24 hours. In Frankfurt, however, when the box was taken off the train by a large crane, the box tilled forward, and this movement made the animal very rdstless. It appeared to move much and also later on the truck it did not calm down. It moved its head with threatening movements during the 7 minutes drive from the station to the zoo, further disturbed by the noise made buy many children along the road. It made a hole in the box with his horn. It was taken as soon as possible to its new enclosure and after two hours the animal could leave the box towards the rear.
