A baby black rhino was born at the Oji Zoo in Kobe on 8 September 1969. Kobe Zoo is the only place in Kapan where rhinos have been born. The mother does not lick the newborn baby. The baby took over an hour to stand on its own feet, and after 4 hours it began to nurse. Thirty days after birth it began to eat soft gren grass. The horns began to appear after about 60 days, and the baby continues to do well.
