Records left by Chinese merchants and visitors such as Chou Ta-Kuan (1296-1297) during the Angkor period, list ivory, rhino horn ... as the principal forest produce for export. In 1992-1994: wildlife traders said there were no authentic rhino products available. Fake rhino horn made from cattle horn were observed on sale at Poipet in 1992 and in 1994, those made from wild Buffalo were priced between $2 and $50. Martin observed no genuine rhino horn on sale in 1994.
