We noticed on some of the less precipitous ridges where the stunted oak and the gorgeous rhododendrons abounded, that rhinoceros had travelled over them, prsumably when making their way to the salt-licks in the valley of the Turong, the source of the Khyendwen River. I have noticed the marks of wild elephant at even higher altitudes than 7000 feet, but never before that of rhinoceros so high.
