With this combination of economic and political pressures, the Thailand rhinos are definitely on their way to extinction, and strong, possibly unpopular, steps are necessary. These should include:
An absolute ban on the sale or possession of any rhino parts; Enforcement of the game laws, with sufficient personnel stationed at the Phu Kheo Game Reserve; Expert study of the Chaiyaphum population, with the possibility of trying to capture them for removal to a more secure area.
