Asian Rhino Species |
A good deal of uncertainty exists as to how many species of Rhinoceros inhabit this region, and which they are, and it is difficult to obtain information; they are poorly represented in the local museums. Cantor records Rhinoceros unicornis and Rhinoceros sondaicus and mentions a two-horned species also. Unfortunately he does not mention any local specimens, or give any details of why he includes Rhinoceros unicornis in his list. Ridley says Rhinoceros sondaicus appears to be the common rhinoceros of the Malay Peninsula.
