1941, Although the area presently occupied by the sanctuary was unofficially recognized by 1936, it was not until 13 March 1941 that it was set aside as a sanctuary: Government Order No. 10549, later amended by Notification No. 5238 on 3 April 1943. First known as a game sanctuary, later as a wild life sanctuary.
