The Chobe Wildlife Trust and Rhino & Elephant Foundation are currently involved in evaluating the tentative establishment of a black rhino sanctuary in the Serowe area of central Botswana. On weekend of 14-15 Sep. 1991, Peter Hitchins of REF, Peter Joffe of Endangered Wildlife Trust and Grahame Thomson of the Chobe Wildlife Trust undertook a ground and aerial survey of the proposed area. Also involved were local members of the Kalahari Conservation Society and Serowe residents. The evaluation was positive, although it was felt that the area should be considerably enlarged.
