Description: The rhinoceros in the photograph, just under a meter tall and probably made of resin/papier mache, lived in the back courtyard of the municipal library of the Gonzaga city of Sabbioneta, now a UNESCO heritage site. The physiognomy of the subject appears inspired by Dürer's famous rhinoceros.
The photo has kindly been provided by Simone Ravara, palaeontologist, director of Museo Paleoantropologico del Po at San Daniele Po (Cremona, Italia).
