New York 1917 horn removed |
Author: |
Albert W. Schaad |
Year: |
1917 |
Description: |
"This Indian Rhino, distinguishable in his 'coat of amil' suit, became so 'sassy' that he was deprived of his eighteen-inch horn by the judicious use of a saw. It took eight men and two hundred feet of stout manila rope to do the trick. Now he is a sadder but wiser rhino." Photo by A.W. Schaad. Probably in New Tork Zoo, male Mogul on show 23 July 1907 to 27 August 1918. From p.70 in MacNally, G.M., 1917. The babyhood of wild beasts. New York |
