Blazon of Apothecary's Guild |
Author: |
anonymous |
Year: |
1817 |
Description: |
The guild of pharmacists in England crowned their blazon with the rhinoceros, flanked by two unicorns, which suggests that the medical properties of the rhino horn were comparable to that of the unicorn. This is a cut-down example of a court summons from the Society of Apothecaries, which excludes the original text. It dates from around 1817. |
