News from Kaziranga:

"With one more one horned Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis) falling prey to the poachers in world famous Kaziranga National Park the total number of rhinoceros killed this year has touched 17 already of which 14 were killed by poachers and two were drowned by devastating flood and one died due to fall in a pit. According to sources, five were killed outside park area in different parts of Upper Assam as they were believed to have gone out from the park searching for food during the last year, as there has been acute shortage of grass in Kaziranga, due to drought in the last three years. Some moved out very recently after flood inundated most of the park area."
