Skeleton of an Indian rhinoceros in the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. The indian rhino was hosted in the Ménagerie from 1770 tp 1792. The Rhino was killed in 1792 during the riots associated with the french revolution. The skin of the rhino was used to mount a stuffed specimen which is currently shown to the public in the "Grande Galerie de l'Evolution" (the skeleton bears no collection number). |
