Schott's Physica Curiosa |
Author: |
Gasper Schott (1608-1666) |
Year: |
1662 |
Description: |
Gasper Schott (1608-1666) was a Jesuit with a keen interest in a number of disciplines, which he acquired from his mentor Anathasius Kircher. In his "Physica Curiosa", he seeks to document "Angels, Demons, Spirits, Monsters, Animals and other rare, arcane and curious things . . ." The unique difference in Schott's interpretation, aside from an extended dorsal horn are nostrils (better seen in Blk& Wht) at the base of the horn, higher than in Dürer's print. |
