J.E.Ridinger started this series of eight plates entitled 'Kämpfe reissender Thiere' in the 1730's. Thienemann Nr. 716 ff. He has taken a different approach to a popular theme of the rhino kills the elephant, but in this case the rhino is himself killed by the weight of this dying enemy. |
