Chronicles of the rhinoceros in South Asia. This project aims to document the interactions between men and rhinoceros through the ages in the South Asian subcontinent, as well as establish the former ranges of the three species of rhinoceros and detail the history of conservation endeavours. I will analyze the large literature consisting of books and papers in journals, magazines and newspapers. Besides I hope to assemble information on the subject in archival manuscripts and contemporary correspondence, on specimens and hunting trophies in museums and private collections, on any art-work (drawings, miniatures, paintings, sculptures, rock engravings) as well as photographs of rhinos seen or hunted or kept in captivity. The results will be made available in a monograph to be published in 2019 or 2020. Any assistance will be much appreciated.
