We are thinking of getting new water tanks for our E. Black Rhino. I would like to know what type of tanks other zoo's use. Does anyone have something like a nelson automatic waterer? (Rhino size) We have four corner tanks made out of cement blocks, about three feet tall, they hold about 50 or more gallons of water and are difficult to clean.

Thank You,

We don't have automatic drinkers, but I think ours are easy to clean. You do have to fill them with a hose. We have one in each of our stalls. They are made out of cement. If you are interested, I am sure we can get photos for you.

We also use cement tanks here, but at one of the zoos in Chicago I saw a different kind being used. It was a very small concrete bowl that was part of the floor and it had a continuous trickle of water coming into it from the wall-it ran over and into the drain. I don't know if it is better than cement tanks, but it's different.
