Following on from the disconcerting TRAFFIC reports re. live animal sales from South Africa and a government proposal for internal rhino horn farming, I would like to know more re. the current status of white rhinos in Chinese zoos.

The current studbooks give data on various zoos having acquired rhinos from various captive sources, mainly Japan and US facilities. The most recent direct import was to the Hangzhou Wildlife Animal Park which is actually established for just conservation breeding of the species.

Appreciate any assistance or suggestions from any correspondents.
