I was asked a question by a student the other day of "How many teeth do rhinos have". We have a cast of a white rhino skull and I counted 24. Can any one tell me if this is currect.
Thank You

The number of teeth differs between the species. The Asian one-horned Indian rhino and Javan rhino (genus Rhinoceros) have 28 teeth (1 incisor, 3 premolars and 3 molars in each half of the jaws). The Sumatran rhino (genus Dicerorhinus) has 30 teeth. The African white rhino has 24 teeth (no incisors), while the African black rhino has between 24 and 28 teeth (no incisors, 3-4 premolars and 3 molars in each half of the jaws).
